The Week of the Winged Dragon: International Street Theater Festival
Motto: This is the center of the world!
The Festival offers different kinds of arts and performances including theater, music, dance, commedia dell'arte and handicrafts in medieval surroundings. There are 4-5 parallel performances running at the same time including a special theater (Korona Teatrum) built of wood just like in the age of Shakespeare. Most of the venues are located at a lakeside.
The town is named after a Hungarian noble man called Bathory. The noble family's crest animal is a dragon. Therefore on the closing night of the Festival a dragon made of paper is set on fire which makes a huge and very impressing firework – this happens only once a year.
The participants of the Festival can enjoy the whole town for the whole week of the Festival since there are artists all over the place. Also all sorts of handicraft products might be purchased all around the town during the time of the Festival.
